Entry #6: Handling Super Short Wake Windows

Entry #6: Handling Super Short Wake Windows

Let’s talk about wake windows for infants.

They are practically nonexistent, which makes it VERY easy to end up with an overtired, super fussy infant.

Check out my video below for tips:

Wake windows vary slightly for each child obviously, but here are averages that can help guide you. The numbers below reflect the amount of awake time between periods of sleep and INCLUDES feeding time.

0-8 weeks old = 30-60 minutes of awake time
8-12 weeks old = 50-80 minutes of awake time
4-6 months old = 1.5-2.25 hours of awake time
7-9 months old = 2.25-3 hours of awake time
10-12 months old = 3-4 hours of awake time
12-18 months old = 3-6 hours of awake time
18-24 months old = 5-6 hours of awake time
2-3 years old = 5.5-7 hours of awake time
3-4 years old = 6-8 hours of awake time
