Swaddle Transition Time! From Swaddle to Baby Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit

Swaddle Transition Time! From Swaddle to Baby Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit

I am a big proponent of swaddling. I recommend swaddling infants for all periods of sleep and I recommend keeping them swaddled as long as possible.

But what happens when your baby becomes too strong and breaks out of the swaddle over and over and over and over again? Time for a swaddle transition tool.

I am using Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleep Suit as a swaddle transition suit for my baby, Ryder. This suit is awesome. I not only use it for my own kids, but I also recommend it to most of my clients (when applicable). This suit was created by a Mom of four who also happens to be a pediatric physical therapist.

This sleep suit helps keep infant reflexes calmed until babies are ready to sleep without any support.

This suit provides less restriction than a swaddle, but more than a sleep sack alone. I love using it as a swaddle transition tool.

My son Ryder was breaking out of his swaddle multiple times a night and was getting visibly uncomfortable with his arms swaddled down. I moved him into the Merlin suit. It took him about a night and a half to get used to the new “freedom” the suit provided. But once he got used to it, he began sleeping much better and for longer stretches of time. The best part is that there is no worry about him getting out of the suit or needing to readjust it during the night like I was with the swaddle.

How cute do babies look in this sleep suit!?!?!?!!

The Merlin suit is appropriate for babies who are twelve pounds or heavier and can be used until babies roll over IN the suit (it is okay if they are rolling during playtime, you just don’t want them rolling in the suit at night as it is designed for back sleeping).

Let me know if you need help with swaddling or swaddle transitions. I know how confusing all of the sleep suit options can be! We can compare notes! :)
