Answers to all of this and more in this video.

Consistency is definitely key when working with children to improve their sleep.

Whether you are working on nighttime sleep or daytime sleep, striving to be extremely consistent in your response to your child is paramount. Consistency helps the learning process move along more quickly, reduces crying, and creates long-lasting results.

However, if your baby is sick, has a fever, or is extremely irritable due to vaccinations it is not the time to push them.

Pause what you were doing and tend to your baby as needed. You do not need to go overboard on the accommodations or soothing, especially if your child is doing very well with self-soothing up until that point. But you may want to spend a little extra time with them in the room to make sure that they are okay. It’s also important to check on them throughout the night particularly if they have a fever.

Once your child is feeling better, go back to your plan and continue working on sleep.
